Post-Graduate Surgical Fellowships

FSIE hosts many national and international surgical scholars. The FSIE Post-Graduate Surgical Fellowships are designed to provide unique 1-6 month experiences for individuals in a certified US training program or abroad as well as for practicing surgeons interested in advanced GI surgery particularly flexible endoscopic surgery such as NOTES, POEM and ESD. Fellowships are tailored to the individual surgeon goals and needs.  Unfortunately, no funding or housing support is available at this time except potential small research awards to be determined separately on an individual merit basis.

Formal Post-Residency Surgical Fellowships

Formal Clinical Fellowships
The Innovations Team at FSIE serves as faculty for a multitude of formal, funded certifying clinical surgical fellowships including Advanced GI/MIS, Foregut, Hepatobiliary, Bariatric and Colorectal Surgery in partnership with the Providence Portland Medical Center, Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and OHSU.  More information on these clinical fellowship opportunities can be found through the Fellowship Council at https://fellowshipcouncil.org.

NOTES Fellowship
FSIE also partners with the Providence Cancer Center to provide a funded NOTES research fellowship. The initial NOTES Research Fellowship was developed in 2007 as a 1-2 year position to support a full time graduate surgeon in pursuit of advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques with a specific focus on flexible endoscopy and laparoscopy. The NOTES Fellowship was designed to capitalize on the longstanding translational research efforts of the GI/MIS program in the rapidly evolving field of surgical endoscopy and so called incisionless surgery or NOTES under the mentorship of the faculty of the Foundation for Surgical Innovation and Education.
