2017 Annual Reunion

3/23/2017

Picture
FSIE president and founder Lee Swanstrom started training surgical fellows over 20 years ago.  Every year at SAGES we get together for the annual reunion to celebrate our friendship and mentorship. Over time the group has grown but remains quite a tight knit family! Tonight we enjoyed an exceptional turnout as more than 2 dozen of our members have traveled to Houston to support SAGES and present their work to an international audience.  The fellows have been an integral part of FSIE since its inception in 2010 including our board members. Together we share a life long dedication to improving the quality of surgery and a continual commitment to push the boundaries of surgical innovation.

Innovation Team goes to MITIE!

3/22/2017

Lead by FSIE Director Dr Kevin Reavis and Dr Erik Wilson of UT Health Medical School, the innovations team put on an outstanding lab at the famous MITIE clinical training facility in Houston, TX as part of the annual SAGES meeting. The innovations team provided leadership and educational tips and tricks as the course participants learned flexible endoscopic technique to combat difficult situations related to bariatric surgery.  It was a great experience to visit the virtual hospital at MITIE- definitely one of the premier simulation centers in the country!
