Shaghayegh Aliabadi, MD
Executive Director of Summer Celebration Fundraiser Operations & High School Internship Program Director Shaghayegh maintains a busy clinical practice focused on treatment of endocrine (thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal) disorders, as well as management of breast cancer. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to advocate for evidence-based medicine, improved surgical outcomes, and responsible resource utilization, while serving in multiple leadership roles. These have included chief of general surgery, chair of surgery, and regional director of surgery for the eight Providence Health System hospitals in Oregon. On a personal note, Shaghayegh was born in Iran and immigrated to the United States with her family in 1979. She grew up in northern California before traveling to New Orleans and Detroit for her surgical training. She moved to Portland in 2001 and over the years, she has found the Pacific Northwest to have the right mix of nature, culture, social tolerance, and environmental awareness. She enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time with her two daughters. |
