Portland Surgical

6/9/2017

President elect and FSIE member Dr. Valerie Halpin and the committee created a great program for the annual Portland Surgical Scientific Session at Good Samaritan Hospital. FSIE had a great time attending and contributing! Here are the FSIE highlights:
  • Dr Steve DeMeester was inducted to the Portland Surgical Society
  • Dr Ezra Teitelbaum presented "Clinical Outcomes 5 years after POEM for Treatment of Primary Esophageal Motility Disorders.
  • New Innovations team member Dr Kelly Haisley presented her work from OHSU "Specific Tumor Characteristics Predict Upstaging in Early-Stage Esophageal Cancer"
  • Dr Eli Hemo presented "Management of Staple Line Leaks After Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy
  • Dr Marc Ward showed 2 great videos: "A Flexible Endoscopic Revision for Anastomotic Stenosis Complicating Esophagectomy" and "Endoscopic Sub-Mucosal Dissection for Difficult Sigmoid Lesion: An Endoscoic Traction Technique"
GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!

PORTLAND SURGICAL SOCIETY: A Portland Institution Since 1948

The Portland Surgical Society is the only professional organization of its type in the Portland area.  The society is an important educational forum for surgeons as well as a showcase for the achievements of many of our trainees.  Perhaps most importantly, it provides a wonderful opportunity to renew the camaraderie and unique sense of fellowship that unites us within our community of surgeons.
