Christy M Dunst, MD
Board Member

Dr. Christy Dunst values quality surgery & surgical education and the importance of inspiring young people to enter the field of medicine. Her mentorship goals include not only supporting scientific endeavors but also teaching the importance of maintaining a balance of mind, body and spirit while achieving professional goals. She has been actively involved in surgical education for more than 20 years.  She is currently employed by the Hoag Specialty Clinic in Newport Beach California where she serves as the Division Chief of Foregut Surgery and Medical Director of the Heartburn and Foregut Center of Excellence. Dr Dunst worked as an esophageal surgical specialist as a shareholder at The Oregon Clinic from 2006-2025.  She is also a founding member and active board member in the American Foregut Society.

Dr. Dunst is one of the founding board members of FSIE and served as Executive Director from 2011-2025. She works closely with the Innovations Team to develop and execute organizational policies, programs and initiatives that fulfill the charitable purpose of FSIE and to ensure that the nonprofit remains true to its central mission.

Dr. Dunst is a Colorado native who lived in Portland, OR from 2006-2025 after completing a fellowship in Esophageal Surgery at the University of Southern California. She loves to ski and SCUBA dive with her husband of >25 years and her two children.
