Dr. Christy Dunst values quality surgery & surgical education and the importance of inspiring young people to enter the field of medicine. Her mentorship goals include not only supporting scientific endeavors but also teaching the importance of maintaining a balance of mind, body and spirit while achieving professional goals. She is currently employed full time as an esophageal surgical specialist at The Oregon Clinic since 2006 and serves as the Program Director for the Providence Advanced GI-Foregut Surgery Clinical Fellowship. She is also a founding member and active board member in the American Foregut Society.
Dr. Dunst is one of the founding board members of FSIE. She took over as Executive Director in 2011. She works closely with the Innovations Team and the Board of Directors to develop and execute organizational policies, programs and initiatives that fulfill the charitable purpose of FSIE and to ensure that the nonprofit remains true to its central mission.
Dr. Dunst is a Colorado native who has lived in Portland since 2006 after completing a fellowship in Esophageal Surgery at the University of Southern California. She loves to ski and SCUBA dive with her husband of >25 years and her two children.
